Twana Howell is an Army wife, grandmother, and mother of five. Originally from Augusta, Georgia, Twana spent six and a half years in Colorado Springs as director before moving to Fayetteville, North Carolina, where she is currently the director and choice mapping specialist.

In 2009, she founded Kelani’s Mentoring program, which is named after her granddaughter. Twana’s vision for the program is rooted in the belief that every young person she encounters has a purpose, and she wants to help them understand that God has a plan for their lives. Twana is passionate about empowering young people to take control of their futures by writing their own visions and making them clear. She believes that everyone has the ability to achieve their goals, and she works tirelessly to ensure that young people are never held back by anyone who tries to dictate their future.

Twana has a diverse range of training and expertise that enables her to provide comprehensive care and support to the young people in her program. Her areas of training include increasing independence through assistive technologies, learning transitional care services, ethics and safety consideration, motivational interviewing for health behavior change, transition to community living, practical strategies for assessment and response, protecting youth from secondhand smoke, perinatal and postpartum substance use disorders, continuing professional development team-based care, critical incidents and disasters, tobacco use treatment using behavioral interventions and medications, trauma-informed care, management role with members with intellectual and developmental disabilities, whole-person care for individuals with traumatic brain injuries and their families, innovations waiver and home- and community-based services, person-centered thinking for healthcare professionals, mutual aid for addiction recovery and co-occurring disorders for adults, adolescents, and families, and TB, First Aid and CPR, North Carolina Qualifying letter, Choice Mapping Specialist.

Through Kelani’s Mentoring program, Twana is able to share her passion for helping young people realize their potential and achieve their goals. She works tirelessly to build a strong foundation for each young person she mentors and encourages them to keep God first and create tunnel vision, focusing on their future and not being held back by their past. Twana’s commitment to empowering young people is evident in everything she does, and her impact on their lives is immeasurable.
