Syllabus:

Welcome to the Mentally STRONG Coaching Course! If you are in this course, you will have already taken the Mentally STRONG Method Course. This module will be a review of what you should have already learned, a refresher.

🎬  3:41 minutes
🖊️ Module 1 – Activity

The intention of the Thought Map is to gain insight into how your client's past and present experiences influence their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is important for your client to be honest, open, and willing to explore their thoughts and experiences. This will allow them to discover what is adding stress, contributing to conflict, not serving a purpose in their life, or not supportive of their life goals.

🎬 4:49 minutes
🖊️ Module 2 – Activity

In the Identify and Organize Element of the Mentally STRONG Method, you will work with your client to identify and organize the contributing factors related to the Central Thought from their Thought Map. There are 10 categories within this metaphorical file cabinet. Not all factors listed in your clients Thought Map will be included in this element for organizing and processing. The Power of Choice is the third element. We teach these together because they are closely related. It provides your client with the opportunity to make choices that support the lives they want.

🎬 10:26 minutes
🖊️ Module 3 – Activity

Your client can have multiple Personal Visions in various areas of their life. You will assist your client to identify realistic immediate and long term action steps to help them reach their Personal Visions. You will also help them identify potential barriers that might hinder their achievement of their Personal Vision.

🎬 5:56 minutes
🖊️ Module 4 – Activity

In this module you will learn about the basics of Choice Opportunity worksheets and how they fit in with the Power of Choice Element. You will get an opportunity to work with the Choice Opportunities later in this course.

🎬 2:42 minutes

In this module, we will start going through each of the 10 categories one by one. The first category is Triggers. A trigger is an external "button" that causes an internal response or reaction in your client. A trigger is usually negative and can indicate a limit, boundary, or reactive behavior. It can also be an intolerance to certain behaviors. Your client may not be aware of their triggers or how they impact their thoughts, feelings, choices or behaviors. It is important for your client to identify their triggers, what they are triggering and to process them.

🎬 7:51 minutes
🖊️ Module 6 – Activity

Grief is complex, grief is any loss. The loss can be many things, including the loss of a loved on, a relationship, a dream or an expectation. Your client may not identify the loss of something as grief, but any significant loss needs to be grieved.

🎬 13:34 minutes
🖊️ Module 7 – Activity

Trauma is a distressing or disturbing experience. Trauma can be physical, mental, emotional, sexual, or psychological. The experience of trauma usually results from an overwhelming amount of stress that exceeds the ability to cope and integrate the thoughts from that experience. Survivors of abuse, violent crimes, and other life changing events need to process the trauma. Encourage your client to process their trauma to minimize its impact on their choices and behaviors.

🎬 9:05 minutes
🖊️ Module 8 – Activity

A negative thought is an external narrative that occurs while thinking. Negative thinking can become habitual to the point where your client may not even realize they are thinking negative thoughts until someone brings it to their attention. Negative thoughts are automatic and ingrained due to lifelong patterns. It is important that negative thoughts are identified and that steps are taken to minimize them. This will take practice and time.

🎬 11:37 minutes
🖊️ Module 9 – Activity

Behaviors and choices can be counterproductive and maladaptive. Behaviors can be coping strategies that were developed as a protective mechanism. Many people are not aware that they are doing these behaviors. It is important to identify the behaviors that may be contributing to your client's Central Thought or that are not supportive of their Personal Visions.

🎬 8:15 minutes
🖊️ Module 10 – Activity

Anxiety is a normal and healthy feeling. However, anxiety that consumes every thought or negatively impacts actions needs to be recognized and dealt with. Stress is a form of anxiety that, when prolonged, and out of proportion to the situation, can become excessive and maladaptive. This can lead to feeling overwhelmed, nervous, and extreme worry. Excessive stress can impair coping abilities and cause ineffective decision making.

🎬 4:42 minutes
🖊️ Module 11 – Activity

Injustices are unfair inequalities or treatments that may be based on cultural, social, or political influences. Injustices can include but are not limited to racism, sexism, gender roles, societal expectations, divorce and custody battles. Injustices can also be unrealistic expectations imposed on people by their family, friends, or employer. There are many injustices in this world that impact how people treat one another.

🎬 6:48 minutes

🖊️ Module 12 – Activity

Spiritual conflict occurs when one's belief system does not match up with their experiences. Based on the inclusion of all spiritual belief systems, this section can be customized. The question asked in the Thought Map should be, "How does this impact your Spiritual Relationship?" In this module, Dr. B uses the word "God" because that is the term she is most comfortable with, however it is not meant to be exclusive.

🎬 7:41 minutes
🖊️ Module 12 – Activity

Addiction is a disorder in thinking that is observed as a compulsive need to engage in rewarding stimuli despite negative consequences. In this module learn to assist your client in identifying addiction and making choices in line with their Personal Vision.

🎬 4:55 minutes
🖊️ Module 14 – Activity

A Core Connection is a thought, belief, or theme in your client's life that causes a reaction in them. These Core Connections can be identified when looking at the big picture of your client's Thought Map. Sometimes completing the other categories in the Identify and Organize element, or completing more than one Thought Map is necessary to determine your client's Core Connections.
